Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
Home / Family and Individual Immigration Services / Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

Certain individuals currently in the United States who are citizens or nationals of foreign countries may be eligible for this form of relief if there is an ongoing armed conflict posing a serious threat to personal safety, an environmental disaster resulting in a substantial but temporary disruption of living conditions has occurred, or there are extraordinary and temporary conditions in the foreign country preventing its national from returning safely. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determines whether certain individuals can apply for TPS.
